Company Story
1929 - CHS Inc. was founded as the Farmers Union Central Exchange in St. Paul, Minnesota.
1931 - The company began providing grain marketing services to its members.
1943 - The company expanded its services to include fertilizer and petroleum products.
1968 - The company changed its name to Cenex, a combination of 'central' and 'exchange'.
1979 - Cenex merged with Harvest States Cooperatives to form Cenex Harvest States.
1998 - The company changed its name to CHS Inc. to reflect its expanded business scope.
2003 - CHS Inc. acquired the North Dakota-based agronomy and energy company, Dakota Plains.
2014 - CHS Inc. acquired a 25% stake in the Brazilian grain company, Multigrain.
2019 - CHS Inc. acquired the Kansas-based grain company, West Central Cooperative.
