1952 - InterDigital, Inc. was founded as a subsidiary of IBM, originally named IBM World Trade Corporation.
1965 - The company was renamed to IBM World Trade Asia Corporation.
1972 - The company was renamed to ITT World Communications Corporation after ITT Corporation acquired it.
1983 - The company was renamed to InterDigital Communications Corporation.
1992 - The company went public with an initial public offering (IPO).
1996 - InterDigital acquired a majority stake in a Swedish company, Telub AB.
2000 - The company changed its name to InterDigital, Inc.
2001 - InterDigital acquired a majority stake in a French company, UbiNetics Ltd.
2007 - InterDigital acquired a majority stake in a US-based company, Transat Technologies Inc.
2011 - InterDigital filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) against Nokia, Huawei, and ZTE.
2012 - InterDigital acquired a majority stake in a US-based company, Hillcrest Laboratories, Inc.
2015 - InterDigital acquired a majority stake in a US-based company, Sensoriant, Inc.
