📋 Highlights

Growth Drivers and Outlook

The company's three primary growth drivers are cloud transceivers, optical circuit switches (OCS), and co-packaged optics (CPO). Cloud transceiver revenue grew significantly, outperforming the legacy cloud-like run rate, and the company has established a lead position in transceiver suppliers. Lumentum expects to comfortably surpass the $750 million quarterly revenue milestone next quarter, with a $805 million midpoint representing an 85% plus year-over-year increase. Guidance for Q3 2026 is a net revenue range of $780 to $830 million, representing a new all-time quarterly revenue record.

Valuation and Pricing

With a P/E Ratio of 162.18 and an EV/EBITDA of 255.97, it's clear that the market has high expectations for Lumentum's future growth. Analysts estimate next year's revenue growth at 56.8%, which may justify some of the premium pricing. However, the ROE of 27.64% and ROIC of 0.58% suggest that the company's profitability is improving, but still has room for further enhancement.

Operational Highlights and Challenges

Lumentum has made significant progress in its OCS business, with a $400 million order backlog and a majority slated for shipment in the second half of the year. The company is also making strides in CPO, securing an additional multi-$100 million purchase order for ultra-high-power lasers. However, the company faces challenges in terms of factory capacity, and is pivoting to contract manufacturing to meet demand. As Michael Hurlston noted, "We're definitely doing better than expected," and the company is confident in its ability to navigate the challenges ahead.

Conclusion on Financials and Future Prospects

Overall, Lumentum's strong Q2 FY2026 earnings and guidance demonstrate the company's momentum in the market. With its diversified growth drivers and improving profitability, the company is well-positioned for future success. However, investors should carefully consider the valuation metrics and the challenges that the company faces in terms of capacity and competition.
