1986 - Lifeway Foods, Inc. was founded by Michael Smolyansky, a Ukrainian immigrant.
1987 - The company started selling kefir, a type of yogurt, in local health food stores.
1992 - Lifeway Foods, Inc. introduced its first product line, including kefir, buttermilk, and sour cream.
1994 - The company went public with an initial public offering (IPO).
1995 - Lifeway Foods, Inc. started selling its products in major retailers such as Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe's.

2006 - Lifeway Foods, Inc. acquired the brand Bio Kéfir.
2011 - The company launched its first frozen kefir product line.
