1997 - PowerSchool was founded by Greg Porter and Steve Moulton as a small startup in Folsom, California.
2001 - PowerSchool launched its first web-based student information system (SIS) for K-12 schools.
2004 - PowerSchool was acquired by Pearson, a global education company, for $300 million.
2015 - PowerSchool was acquired by Vista Equity Partners, a private equity firm, for $350 million.
2018 - PowerSchool acquired SunGard K-12, a provider of school administrative software, for $850 million.
2020 - PowerSchool acquired Schoology, a learning management system (LMS) provider, for $350 million.
2021 - PowerSchool went public with an initial public offering (IPO) of stock, raising $711 million.
